Before your cleaning

How to prepare for your house cleaning

What to do before the cleaning professionals arrive, and what each add-on needs from you.

  • You do not need to be home
  • Supplies are provided
  • No need to clean first

Preparing, in short

To prepare for a house cleaning, leave your entry and lock-up instructions, clear the counters, shelves and tables you want wiped, and get any add-ons ready: empty the fridge, run the oven’s self-clean cycle, empty the cabinets. You do not need to be home, and you do not need to clean first.

The checklist

Before the cleaning professionals arrive

  • Send your entry instructionsEntry, alarm, parking, pet and lock-up instructions can be provided in advance, so you do not need to be home. Be specific: the door, the code, where to park, where the cat hides.
  • Clear the surfaces you want wipedCounters, shelves and tables are wiped when they are clear of clutter. Move the mail, chargers and boxes off the surfaces you want done.
  • Leave out trash bagsTrash is emptied and liners replaced with bags you supply.
  • Get your add-ons readyEach add-on has one thing it needs from you first. The list is below.
  • Tell us about one small extraNeed one small thing done while we are there? Tell us before your appointment and we will do our best to fit it in if time allows.
  • Moving out? Empty the home firstA move-in or move-out clean is built for a home that is empty, or about to be: an empty home shows every surface.
Booked an add-on?

What each add-on needs from you

  • Inside the fridge

Empty it before the cleaning professional arrives. The freezer is not included.

  • Inside the oven

Run the oven’s self-clean cycle first. The add-on cleans the oven interior, racks and door.

  • Inside cabinets and drawers

The cabinets need to be empty.

  • Inside window glass

Interior glass only. Screens are not included, and no ladders are used.

  • Dishes

One sink load washed and put away, or one full dishwasher cycle.

  • Laundry

One standard load, washed, dried and folded.

  • Finished basement

A finished space only. An unfinished basement needs a special request.

  • Pets

Accounts for the extra time and pet hair. It does not include pet waste cleanup.

On the day

What happens when they arrive

  • A 2-hour arrival window

Plan for a 2-hour arrival window. Confirmation and schedule updates come by email and text, so watch both.

  • Supplies come with them

Standard supplies and equipment are provided for the service you selected.

  • If the home needs more time

Condition is a price factor, not a judgment. If the home needs more time than booked, you get options before any extra work is added.

  • Walk through before they leave

If something in your booked scope was missed, tell us and it can be fixed on the spot. Notice it later? Contact the office within 24 hours and we will send a cleaner back to re-clean it at no charge, or take care of it at your next scheduled cleaning.

Do I need to be home for my house cleaning?

No. Entry, alarm, parking, pet and lock-up instructions can be provided in advance.

Should I clean before the cleaner comes?

No. Clear the counters, shelves and tables you want wiped, because those are wiped when they are clear of clutter. Condition is a price factor, not a judgment.

Do I need to provide cleaning supplies?

No. Standard supplies and equipment are provided for the service you selected. Leave out trash bags, because trash liners are replaced with bags you supply.

How do I get the oven ready for the inside oven add-on?

Run the oven’s self-clean cycle first. The add-on cleans the oven interior, racks and door.

Does the inside fridge add-on include the freezer?

No. The fridge must be emptied before the cleaning professional arrives, and the freezer is not included.

Can I ask for something extra on the day?

Tell us before your appointment rather than on the day. For one small thing, we will do our best to fit it in if time allows. Bigger jobs, like the inside of the fridge or oven, are add-ons you can pick when you book.

What if I notice something was missed?

If it was in your booked scope, walk through before the cleaner leaves and tell us, so it can be fixed on the spot. If you notice it later, contact us within 24 hours and we will send a cleaner back to re-clean it at no charge, or take care of it at your next scheduled cleaning.
